A part of the protected Georgian territories will be deprived of their status

The legislative initiative of the Georgian Government will considered at the meeting of the Environment and Natural Resources Protection Committee.

The initiative provides for deprivation of their status for several thousand hectares of protected territories in Tusheti, Babaneuli, Lagodekhi, and Vashlovani, Business Georgia reports.

«For many years people have been grazing sheep at these territories, which fact has led to a conflict between guards and shepherds. Therefore, the Committee will adopt a resolution, allowing the sheep pasturing, but local population will be taxed for that and will have to pay a certain amount to the budget», – Committee Chairman Giya Tsagareishvili has noted.
