Maersk Line, MSC and CMA CGM decided to make an alliance
Shipping container carriers Maersk Line, MSC and CMA CGM agreed to establish an alliance for the transportation of cargo in the East-West direction. The alliance will be established for the long term outlook and will be called P3 Network. This is stated in companies’ joint press release.
With P3 Network they hope to improve and optimize transport operations. The alliance will include 255 ships with total capacity of 2.6 million TEU. They will serve three areas: Asia-Europe, transpacific and transatlantic routes. "P3 Network will provide consumers a more stable, frequent and flexible services", - stated in a press release.
Although the management of the ships will be carried out in a joint center of the alliance, the companies will remain independence t in marketing strategy, customer service, as well as in the matter of selling their services.
As noted, the combined route network will reduce the risks of voyages cancellations for customers. Through joint efforts the companies intend to increase the load of ships, which will positively impact on their commercial efficiency.
