Moldova, Romania to ratify border treaty
The Moldovan parliament today approved in first reading a draft law providing for the ratification of the Moldovan-Romanian treaty on the border regime and mutual border collaboration and assistance.
The treaty provides for mutual maintenance and management of the border as well as for Moldovan-Romanian cooperation in the sector. The document obliges signatory sides to keep the state border clearly marked and take all the measures necessary to prevent the border’s deterioration, destruction or illegal replacement.
The treaty also sees that Moldova and Romania would create a joint commission to verify the entire route of the state border and maintain border signs. The commission will perform checks every five years by measuring and carrying on other types of field works.
The Moldovan-Romanian treaty on the border regime and mutual border collaboration and assistance was signed in Bucharest on 8 November 2010.
