Moldova and Chile sign visa-free agreement

The Republic of Chile has become the second South American country, after Ecuador that signed an agreement on lifting the visa regime with the Republic of Moldova.

According to the Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, on Thursday, Moldovan Foreign Minister Natalia Gherman and Bucharest-based Chile Ambassador to Moldova Maria Eliana Cuevas Bernales signed in Chisinau an agreement on the concurrent conditions of citizens’ movement and an agreement on removing the visa regime for holders of diplomatic, official and special passports.

Due to this agreement, citizens of both states will have the right to visa-free entry, transit and stay on the territory of Moldova and Chile, up to 90 days. Moreover, envoys that are sent on a diplomatic mission into another country, and who are holders of valid diplomatic and service passports, will no longer require visas of the host country, during their time-in-office.

The signing of this agreement fits into Moldova’s action plan on the mutual cancellation of visa regime, for all categories of citizens, traveling to the South America and Latin America.
