Ukrainian, Russian sailors find common language, BSF commander says
Ukrainian and Russian sailors found a common language when fulfilling tasks at sea, Russia's Black Sea Fleet Commander Aleksandr Vitko said this in his congratulatory address on Thursday.
"Sailors of the two countries have long found a common language when performing tasks in the sea, and the birth of a new tradition of the common holiday is a logical extension of our cooperation," the congratulation reads.
According to the Black Sea Fleet commander, the fleet holiday, which is celebrated on the last Sunday of July, is common and international.
"The holiday of navy sailors is truly national and international. It is celebrated by people of different generations in the near and far abroad. In Sevastopol, this is a special holiday, because the second consecutive year, Russia Navy Day and Ukraine Navy Day we celebrate together," Vitko said.
As Ukrinform reported, on July 28 in Sevastopol, Ukrainian and Russian sailors will jointly celebrate the Ukrainian and Russian Navy Day. It is expected that Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin will attend the celebration.
