Salaries of lecturers at Russian higher education institutions to be doubled

Starting from autumn of this year, the Russian Ministry of Education and Science intends to raise the basic wages for lecturers at the Ministry’s higher education institutions by two times at the average.

On the average, the wages of all categories of professors and lecturing staff will rise from 8.5 to 18.6 thousand rubles a month.

The largest wage growth is expected for professors and associate professors – by 2.4 and 2.2 tomes at the average, respectively.

According to the Ministry, starting from September the salary of professors may reach 26 thousand rubles, associate professors – 18 thousand rubles, lecturers – 12 thousand rubles, and assistants – 11 thousand rubles.
