Freight transportation via Ukrzaliznytsia’s rail network increases
The volume of orders for transportation of cargo on Ukrainian railways increased during the period of August 1-18 compared with the same period of July this year, the state railway administration (Ukrzaliznytsia) has announced, citing data from its main transport department.
In particular, compared with the same period in July, loadings of bituminous coal increased by 6%, crude oil and petroleum products by 15.7%, ferrous scrap metal by 15.1%, chemical and mineral fertilizers by 4.3%, salt by 19.3%, cement by 3.5%, and flour by 42.8%.
There was a seasonal increase in orders for transportation of grain: it increased by 139% compared with the same period in July.
The loading volumes of sugar reduced (seasonal reduction) by 39.7%, construction materials by 4.2%, and ferrous metals by 1.9%.
