Russia plans to inject over $ 23 bn in Rostov region’s transport sector by 2030

By 2030 Russian government plans to invest RUB 780 billion in the development of the transport sector of the Rostov region, the Transportation Ministry of Russia’s southern region said.

The Strategy for the Development of the transport complex of the region has been approved by the Rostov region Gov. Vasily Golubev.

The long-term program will be implemented in three phases.

The first phase objectives, between 2013 and 2015, are the development of public-private partnership to improve road safety, the expansion of the road network, the preparation for major infrastructure projects.    

According to the plan the regional authorities are preparing for the construction of Yuzhny airport complex and relocation of the First Cargo Area of JSC Rostov Port from Rostov downtown to the port and industrial zone Zarechnaya.

The construction is under way of the multimodal transport and logistics hub "Rostov Universal Port" and equipment upgrade of Taganrog Yuzhny airport, including installation of aeronautical meteorological equipment.

During the first phase the regional authorities will fund rehabilitation of the Volgodonskaya - Morozovsk railway section, and the construction of the Rostov-on-Don - Azov highway.
