Moldovan military contingent likely to participate in Kosovo peacekeeping operation

A contingent of Moldovan servicemen might participate in a peacekeeping operation in Kosovo, according to a decision taken by the government October 2.

Deputy Defence Minister Igor Panfile has said that Moldova would spend over 923,000 dollars annually for this mission. Yet, the country will be able to get higher financial benefits within several projects, he added.

Under the draft, the Moldovan military contingent will be composed of 33 people, a team of sappers made up of 7 servicemen, a staff officer and the needed equipment.
