Ukraine wants to open consulate in Tiraspol, FM Kozhara says
Ukraine is interested in expanding its consular presence in the Republic of Moldova and has submitted a formal request for the opening of the consular office in Tiraspol.
OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Leonid Kozhara told this to Moldovan Prime Minister Iurie Leanca during a conference on confidence-building measures in the Transnistrian settlement process in Landshut, eastern Bavaria, on Wednesday.
"We consider this step as an important element of confidence building in the region," Kozhara said.
At a meeting with the Moldovan prime minister the sides discussed the main aspects of bilateral cooperation between Ukraine and Moldova, preparations for the Eastern Partnership summit in Vilnius and the OSCE Ministerial Council meeting in Kyiv.
During the conference, the Ukrainian foreign minister also met the Minister of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany, Michael Link. A special focus of the meeting was devoted to issues related to Ukraine's European integration agenda, as well as the future of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union during the Vilnius Eastern Partnership summit in November 2013.
