Romania simplifies procedure of granting citizenship to Moldovans
The Romanian authorities have simplified the procedure of granting Romanian citizenship to Moldovans: from now the oath of allegiance to the Romanian state can be taken at any diplomatic mission of Romania in Moldova, and not at the agency for citizenship in Bucharest.
A Chisinau-based Ukrinform correspondent reported on Saturday.
«The procedure of taking an oath of allegiance to the Romanian state could be held at the Embassy or consulates of Romania abroad», – the agency said in a communique.
Thus, the citizens of Moldova who received Romanian citizenship will be able to take an oath of allegiance in Chisinau, as well as the consulates in Cahul, Balti and Ungheni.
Earlier this procedure used to take place at the agency for citizenship in Bucharest.
According to official data of Romania, the number of Moldovan citizens who have applied for Romanian citizenship is about 800,000 people.
