China is ready to expand military and technical cooperation with Ukraine.
This issue was discussed during negotiations between the leadership of the main arms department of China's Ministry of National Defense and Director General of Ukroboronprom State Concern Serhiy Hromov, who is accompanying Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych in Beijing.
"During the talks with the leadership of the main arms department of China's Ministry of National Defense the sides discussed the implementation of current contracts on the supply to Chinese customers of aircraft and naval technology, the provision of services in organizing the production of the said technology in this country, as well as the prospects for future cooperation. The Chinese side emphasized the importance of the successful implementation of contracts and expressed its readiness to expand military and technical cooperation with Ukraine," Ukroboronprom's press service reported.
During a meeting with the Poly Technologies defense manufacturing company the sides analyzed the prospects for cooperation in the creation and modernization of armored vehicle, high-precision weapons, and the joint development of advanced weapons systems, particularly in the field of shipbuilding. In addition, the sides considered the possible provision of trade credits from Chinese companies for the technical modernization and expansion of products at enterprises that are part of Ukroboronprom.
At a meeting with the leadership of the Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) the sides spoke about the ongoing bilateral projects, the development of cooperation between AVIC and Ukroboronprom's enterprises for the joint production of aircraft equipment and identified a number of promising joint projects in the field of aircraft construction.
As reported, Ukrainian defense companies exported $1 billion worth of products in the first nine months of 2013.
