Bulgarian President leaves on state visit to China for the first time in 15 years
Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev will leave on a state visit to China from 12 to 15 January at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping, the Press Secretariat of the head of state informed.
Rosen Plevneliev is the first head of state to visit China in 2014 and this is the first state visit of a Bulgarian President in the Asian giant in 15 years.
The visit aims to continue the political dialogue at the highest level between the two countries and to intensify bilateral trade-economic and investment relations.
2014 also marks the 65th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and China.
January 12 President Plevneliev met with the representatives of the Bulgarian community in Beijing.
On January 13 the Bulgarian head of state will be welcomed with an official ceremony in the "Great Hall of the People " in Beijing by the Chinese President Xi Jinping .
