Moldovan Ministry works out draft of Digital Moldova 2020 strategy

The Information Technology and Communications Ministry (MTIC) has completed the elaboration of the draft of the National Strategy for Development of Information Society “Digital Moldova2020”. The draft is meant to improve the governance, services and business environment, to diminish corruption and to increase economic competitiveness.

According to MTIC, the " Digital Moldova 2020" project was worked out so that all public institutions, business environment and citizens could largely use information technologies and communications, whereas the state’s involvement to be minimal, but with maximum of efficiency. The efforts would concentrate on infrastructure and access, digital content and electronic services, capacities and use.

The MTIC said that once the strategy’s goal achieved, by 2020, Moldova would become a country with an advanced informational society. Thus, the use of the information technologies and communications, the enlarged access to a modern infrastructure of electronic communications, the rich digital content and the performing informational services will allow improving the quality of governance, increasing economic competitiveness and ensuring people’s welfare.
