Premier Leanca promises visa-free regime for citizens in autumn 2014

Starting from the autumn of 2014, Moldova citizens will be able to travel to European Union countries without visas, new Prime Minister Iurie Leanca stated confidently, speaking live on the Moldova-1 public television on June 3 night.   

Leanca believes that at the Eastern Partnership Summit to be held in Vilnius next November, the Republic of Moldova and the European Union will initial the Association Agreement and the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (DCFTA).    

«It is exactly the Euro-integration idea that has united partners, representing various political parties, into a new coalition. Besides this, the parliamentary majority’s agenda includes indeed a number of domestic problems, too. Before the expiry of the new government’s mandate, we have all chances to sign the Association Agreement and the DCFTA, as well as a visa facilitation agreement. This, however, does not mean that we have already agreed with everybody. We have to hold negotiations with all the 27 member states of the European Union. We are resolutely going to spare no effort for achieving these goals», said the Prime Minister.         

As already reported by Infotag, some 2 years ago, when Iurie Leanca was Minister of Foreign Affairs, he promised that Moldova would receive the visa-free regime by the end of 2012 at the latest, otherwise he would tender resignation.
