Romania is popular for dental tourism

Romania is in the list of the most popular destinations for the so-called dental tourism: local clinics get considerable income from foreigners.

Citizens of the European Union countries are not only customers at this market, but also founders or employees of such clinics. According to the forecasts of the Romanian Ministry for Economic Development, such trend will become stronger in the coming years.

The total number of visitors at one of Bucharest popular dental clinics includes 30% of foreigners, and 20% of them are represented by Romanian expats, while the balance includes only foreign countries’ citizens. Other clinics show quite similar results.

The annual number of customers amounts to 5 thousand people, and 1.5 of them are foreigners.

The majority of Romanian dental clinics are located in Bucharest, which is the place where most foreign patients come, whereas the provinces host mostly the state policlinics with the low quality of services, leading to the fact that even the Romanians try to avoid them.
