Romania attends London Book Fair
Romanian literature has been present for the sixth time in a row, with the support of the Romanian Cultural Institute (ICR), at the greatest literary event organized in Great Britain: the International Book Fair, which is mainly devoted to the professionals of the book industry (publishers, literary agents, bookshop keepers, printers).
According to a release issued by ICR in London, during this fair, which will be held between April 15 and 17, the events to be organized at the stand and at the Romanian Cultural Institute in London under the motto «Romania at the London Book Fair: A Tribute to the Labours of Love» will reveal the value, like in a balance sheet, of the extraordinary Romanian literary heritage created in the Anglo-Saxon world and will pay homage to all people, translators, publishers, literary promoters, who have contributed in the past few decades to the creation of a substantial and diversified library of prose, poetry and academic books translated into English.
The Romanian programme will include talks, book launches, meetings, exhibitions and will bring together some of the British book professionals who, independently or with the support of some Romanian institutions, secured the presence of Romania and of our literature in the Anglo-Saxon world.
They will also present the newest Romanian books in English, both prose books and academic ones, and about 30 publishing houses will attend the above-mentioned event with books published in collections.
ICR in London ensured the executive coordination and the curatorial concept. The main partners of the Romanian Cultural Institute in organizing the participation in the London Book Fair are Romania's Embassy to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and the School of Slavonic and East European Studies of the University College, London.
