Over 220 million euros for upgrading Danube-Black Sea, Poarta Alba- Midia Navodari canals
Over 220 million euros are set aside for investing in upgrading the Danube - Black Sea canal and the Poarta Alba - Midia Navodari canal, according to a decision passed by the Government.
«This investment objective will facilitate access to a viable long-term transport system for nearly 350,000 inhabitants. At the same time, a larger capacity of the locks as well as reduced maintenance and repair costs will bring about a cut in lock fees as well, thus stimulating transport on the canal,' the Government explains in a press release.
The total value of the investment is put at 1.022 billion and the money will come from the national budget, the budget of the Transport Ministry, within the limits of the annually approved amounts for this end under Title 56 - Projects on non-returnable external funds, post EU-accession.
